Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

It’s tough to define a business with one overarching quote, however, “teamwork makes the dream work” is one that I live my life by.

Last year, surrounded by friends, family, clients, and business partners, I celebrated my 10 year anniversary. While I’ve been in the entertainment industry for over 21 years, providing the music, entertainment, and energy to countless weddings, events, parties, and more, I’ve spent 10 years building and working under my own By Request Entertainment brand! While there are many attributes that make these events special, all of which I’ll touch on in the next few weeks, very few compare to the people I have met along the way.

All entrepreneurs know that having strong relationships with clients is important, but the difference with me is that I don’t simply consider these people to be my clients. While some entertainers just show up the day of an event and perform their duties satisfactorily, that isn’t how I operate. I take my time. I give you my energy and enthusiasm. Why do I do that? Because that is how I build a strong relationship with the people I am working with. That is how I gain your trust and confidence. Why is that important? It’s easy, because if you’re happy, then I’m happy.

I wasn’t sure how I could demonstrate the strength of my relationships with past clients. I could direct you to testimonials that have been written or I could paint a picture of special events, but, instead, I thought I would mention a few very special clients.

The first standout is someone who has grown from a client to one of my best friends. Sure our relationship began as a business arrangement – I would provide the entertainment, he would be entertained – but it didn’t stop there. He has remained a huge part of my life in the years since the event, not only helping me to gain additional business, but also being a friend and supporter when I needed it.

The second is not an individual. The second are all of the clients who have adopted me into their families. For anyone who knows me, they know how highly I value family, and to feel like I have been adopted by all of these additional families is something that I cannot even describe. By referring me to their family members, friends, and coworkers, these clients have helped me to grow my brand, company, and organization, in ways that I never could have dreamed of!

The third, and this is a big one, are all of the members of my network family. These individuals have partnered with me, worked on events with me, and have supported me. They are my friends, my colleagues, and my family. They are my team, who I know I can always count on. This team includes Soundbox, Muir Image Photography, all of the members of the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC), and more! Whether they are always there to snap a photo, attend an event, or support a local charity with me, these individuals all believe in me, my dream, and my future. They know that big things are still to come, and I’m so glad they’ve decided to work with me on this rollercoaster we call life.

These first 10 years of By Request Entertainment have been an absolute adventure. They have been filled with more laughter, joy, and enthusiasm than I could have ever imagined. They have also been filled with trials, tribulations, and challenges – more than you can ever know. But these challenges have all been overcome because of the people in my life; the laughter has always been louder because of who have been laughing with me. So, for those of you who have joined me on this journey, I thank you. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. Here’s to the next 10 years – to the coming adventures, the future struggles, and the many unknowns that I know we’ll face together.

Stay tuned for next week’s #RequestTheBest blog that will show all of you how I’m able to keep my energy levels up, regardless of the time and energy that I put into each and every event (especially on my extremely busy days)!
